Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Day by day I am finding God’s words are true. Living life according to His will is wise. But it is not
possible to live in peace and to be holy without complete surrender to the Father’s will.
When I gave my heart to Jesus many years ago beside my Mom and Dad’s bedside, I knew I was
forgiven. His peace washed away all condemnation.
A few months later, though I prayed for something I knew was missing. Kneeling at the altar in Douglas
Camp’s tabernacle, I bowed desiring to give my Lord my all. Surrender did not come right away. As I
prayed with the dear lady beside me, the dinner bell rang. I was on the lunch crew. Duty pulled on my
heart and won. Leaving the altar without completely giving God my all I walked down the path to do my
work in the cafeteria. I felt empty as I left. I am sure the precious lady prayed as she watched me go
because as I walked the Holy Spirit came. Ohh, the peace and assurance I had. He gave me His joy and
confident peace. That area on the path has become holy ground to me.
The Holy spirit still lives within me. God, through His Spirit, has drawn me to Himself. He has corrected
me, protected, and shown me over and over that He loves me and prunes my spirit to have the fruit of His
Spirit grow within me: love, joy peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance
against such there is no law. *
I have learned and am still learning that living the surrendered life is not a one time experience. Daily
surrender is the way to victory and abundant living. Not everything is easy but He gives grace to
surrender when I tell Him I place my life and that hurtful or joyful situation into His hands.
Living a holy life in my own strength truly is impossible but as His word speaks it is not me“..not by
might, nor by power, but by My Spirit” says the Lord.**
Thank You, Lord, for Your peace that comes in surrendering my will to You. Though it seems all is lost
when I give my all to You I, find Your will and way actually allows You to give me Your best.
In Jesus’ precious name I pray.
