“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatsoever he does prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3
Opening the blinds one fall morning I began to laugh. The scene across the road was amazing. It was a scene I rarely had seen before so I decided I would just stand and watch.
The tall tree across the street stayed still while the wind blew. But its orange leaves were being blown away. The leaves tumbled as the wind whisked them from their branch home one after the other. It was a beautiful scene. First multiple orange leaves fell from one side like a gentle rain and then leaves on the other side rained down like the other side, leaf after leaf after leaf.
A man walked on past the tree looking down. He missed the silent beauty because he never looked up at the falling leaves.
O Lord, winds of adversity may blow in my life. Help me not to miss Your beauty in the midst of winds that blow!
