Seek His Face

Many years ago, a young man asked if I would be willing to date Him.  I had already started to notice him.  I knew, for the most part, his whereabouts.  But dating…. this gave the right to seek his face openly.  I went to Bible College, and our dating privileges were quite restricted.  We could visit with each other 3 nights a week and we had a couple hours on Saturday, the time was always too short.  So, I would rearrange my schedule to cross paths with his.  I would go to the library when I knew he was there, peek at him in the chapel or on his way to work, and I would look out the window when I knew he would be crossing the campus.  When I would see him, my heart would skip a beat.  And the glow on my face…no one could put it out!

One day, he told me he loved me! No other face seemed to matter! I thought I would cease to live if I could not see his face. Every breath was more real, more fun, more adventurous, and more meaningful when he was there. I really didn’t think life could get any better.

Then he married me! We live together! His face I see!

I have not stopped seeking his face, oh no, no, no!

The seeking is different, but there is still no other face I long to seek. When we are apart for a couple of days, then come back together, his face I seek again. And the sweetness is, I can guarantee he will be seeking my face too.

Seeking God is a valuable part of our spiritual journey. The process itself is a way in which God speaks to us, maturing us, molding us, and strengthening us for His purposes. Look for Him in the details of everyday, rearrange your schedule to cross paths with Him, and allow yourself the privilege of sitting in His presence. I guarantee, every breath will seem more real and meaningful when He is there.

Seek His Face!

Jeremiah 29:13

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

Psalms 27:4

“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.”
