What Do You See

What' Do You See?
Thoughts from  Titus Women’s Zoom Bible Study on Zechariah
Laurie Rambo

The Zechariah study is marvelously rich and full of insight. Zechariah’s visions contain beautiful imagery of the Triune God. We see God who fights for us and protects us with a ring of fire. We see our great High Priest taking our sin, and in chapter 4 we see images of the Holy Spirit at work to accomplish God’s restoration of the temple. God clearly tells Zerubbabel that it will be accomplished, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts. (Zechariah 4:6)

And so it is with us. The only way God can accomplish His purposes in us and through us is by the power of His Holy Spirit continually filling us.

This outpouring of the Spirit is represented by the olive branches that continuously drip oil into the golden lampstand as described in Zechariah chapter 4. The oil of the Spirit poured out into us paints a picture of ways the Spirit works in us.

Oil as food nourishes the body.
Oil illuminates.
Oil smooths troubled waters
Oil heals.
Oil gives comfort.
Oil adorns us as perfume.
Oil cleans and polishes.
Do you know the reality of the Holy Spirit filling your life? Is He feeding you through His word? Illuminating your heart? Smoothing the friction in your life? Healing your hurts? Giving you comfort and the warmth of His love? Adorning you with the beauty of the Spirit within? Sharing the fragrance of Christ? Is the Holy Spirit the Spirit smoothing and polishing you, so that are a beautiful reflection of Jesus?
God the Father sees us as the apple of His eye, fights for us and protects us. Jesus, our great High priest sacrificed Himself for our sins, restoring our relationship with God. And the Holy Spirit continuously pours Himself into us, transforming us so that we may do all God asks of us, no matter how big or how small.

He who called you is faithful and HE will do it… not by might, not by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord of Heaven’s armies. (1 Thess. 5:24 & Zechariah 4:6)
